G4 is now in its second term of course delivery. The first stream of students are 4 weeks into the cases. Students and tutors are more comfortable with the online cases and students on the 5 year stream are adapting to the PBL process.
A cross cluster meeting was held at the Open University on 2nd December 2009, between St George’s, The Open University and the University of Hertfordshire. A good discussion about what each project had to offer.
A second cluster meeting was held in Coventry, starting with dinner at a nice Thai restaurant, followed by a days meeting at Coventry University. It was good to see the progress of each of the projects and what their next steps will be.
A programme meeting was held on the 13/14th Oct in Manchester. It was a Joint meeting with the Design strand, where all the project came together to share ideas, and update on the progress of projects. There were some interesting projects in the Design strand.
“PBL is fun, it seens to simulate the type of decision making I observed in multi-disciplinary team meetings”
The first 6 cases have successfully been delivered to the first stream of students. Initial feedback has shown that students enjoy the case, they discuss before and after the options are shown. The use of the wiki’s is greater than anticipated where students use it to share learning objectives and other useful information about the case with each other.
G4’s first case was delivered on Tuesday 1st September 2009. Feedback from some students and tutors was that they all enjoyed it. So far 2 cases have ran and we are into the second week of delivery.
Creation of the first module is complete, with the second one nearly complete.
